Hello and welcome to South Walney Infant and Nursery School website.
We know how important it is to you, to pick the right school for your child. We are all very proud of our school. We have very high expectations of our children and want them, most importantly to be happy and safe and to develop a life long love of learning.

Sports & Fitness
We want to give all our children the chance to experience a range of sports and activities here. We aim to help them begin to understand the importance of healthy life choices and enjoy developing their fitness.
Digital Learning
We embrace the use of digital learning technology such as ipads to support children in developing skills for their future in a continually developing technological world. Technology can provide innovative, motivating ways to enhance learning in the classrooms and we love to explore that.
Parents
We welcome and value having parents join us in school for workshops, visits, performances and to be a part of our school life alongside their child as well as an active part in their childs education.
Reading
We love to read! We have an inviting and inspiring library as well as classrooms full of high quality books. We aim to raise readers, and promote the love of reading to our children as an important part of their daily lives.
Forest Schools
We offer regular opportunities for learning outdoors and the development of the skills this involves. We want our children to achieve, build confidence, develop resilience and enjoy hands on learning and being outdoors offers all this and more.
School Environment
Did you know we have an allotment, wildlife area, pond and viewing station, dens, climbing wall, computer suite and lots more for children to explore here at SWINS. Why not visit and see for yourself?
Nursery
South Walney Infant and Nursery School offers purpose built, high quality provision for children of 3-7 years.
FREE nursery education sessions are provided for children aged 3- 4 years delivered by a Qualified Teacher and Senior Teaching Assistant. We offer both 15 hour (this is either 5 morning or 5 afternoon sessions) and 30 hour sessions (for those who qualify) for children of 3-4 years old.
Our well qualified and experienced staff work hard to ensure that your child settles well, is happy, makes progress and really enjoys starting their learning here with us at South Walney. We provide a calm, nurturing and motivating environment with a curriculum filled with exciting, creative and meaningful learning experiences.
